Yandex.Money to power the Opera Mobile Store
San Mateo, Calif., and Barcelona, Spain - February 28, 2012
Opera Software announced today its partnership with Yandex.Money to simplify mobile payment in the Opera Mobile Store in Russia and other CIS countries.
Through this partnership, Yandex.Money will be the preferred method of payment for users of the Opera Mobile Store in countries where Yandex.Money operates. Opera Mobile Store customers will be given a choice to pay for their app purchases using Yandex.Money. If they choose that method, they will be able to opt for single-click purchases for future transactions, making mobile payment a hassle-free process.
Yandex.Money is the most popular e-commerce payment system in Russia. The Opera Mobile Store is the fifth most popular mobile app store in the world and serves most popular platforms including Android, Symbian, iOS, BlackBerry and Java. The Opera Mobile Store has more than 45 million downloads a month.
The Opera Mobile Store is featured as a Speed Dial link in the Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers and is accessible to more than 160 million users of Opera's mobile browsers worldwide. In Russia, the Opera's browsers for phones constitute more than a 66 percent market share, according to StatCounter, a third-party source that tracks browser market share.
