Opera takes centre stage at India Telecom 2009
New Delhi, India - December 2, 2009
Opera Software will participate in the upcoming India Telecom exhibition, held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from December 3-5, 2009. India Telecom 2009 is organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). Visitors can meet Opera Software executives and see product demos at booth B-13 in Hall number 18 of the exhibition.
During the exhibition, Opera Software will be demoing the latest versions of Opera Mini 5 beta, Opera Mobile 10 beta, Opera 10.10 browser for desktop and a wide range of devices that support the browser. Opera Mobile and Opera Mini run on multiple mobile platforms and are pre-installed on phones such as Nokia, HTC, Motorola, Samsung, Sony-Ericsson and the recently launched Garmin-Asus Nuvifone.
With a vision to deliver the best Internet experience on any device, Opera Software continues to provide users with new and innovative products for mobile browsing. Opera's world-leading Web browser for mobile phones, Opera Mini, has made significant impact on the Indian market, which has resulted in exponential Web usage growth month-on- month.
"Nearly 40 million people around the world used Opera Mini last month, representing more than 11 percent growth in just one month," said Sagar Chandna, country manager for India, Opera Software. "Opera Mini is used by millions in India as well. India's PC penetration remains lower than the global average, and people turn to Opera Mini to get online. As a result, India ranks amongst the top three markets for Opera Mini globally."
In India, Opera Software has developed close partnerships with operators such as Tata Teleservices. Tata delivers Opera Mini on approximately 30 handsets, allowing users to download it as a service. The tailor-made Opera Mini solution for Tata includes a dynamic home page with full brand integration of the user interface, focused on educating first-time Internet users. Opera Mini's small footprint, compression technology, customization and localization empower Tata Teleservices to bring a rich and easy-to-use Web experience to their customers.
Opera-powered devices on display at India Telecom include: Asus Eee PC, Orange Tabbee, Nintendo DSi and several handsets working on the Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian & other operating platforms.
