John Patrick, Former IBM VP of Internet Technology, Joins Opera Software’s Board of Directors

Opera Software today announced that John Patrick has joined its board of directors. Mr. Patrick is President of Attitude LLC and former Vice President of Internet technology at IBM. In confirmation of Mr. Patrick's expertise and in sharing his innovative vision, Opera Software celebrates his appointment and counsel.

During his 35-year tenure at IBM, Mr. Patrick contributed to the foundation of IBM's leasing business at IBM Credit Corporation and was Senior Marketing Executive for the launch of the IBM ThinkPad brand. Mr. Patrick has been publicly credited with bringing the Internet to IBM.

Mr. Patrick was a founding member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) at MIT and is now the Chairmanof the Global Internet Project, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and electronics Engineers, a member of the Internet Society, the Associationfor Computer Machinery, and the Working Group on Authentication at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He also serves as a member of the board of directors for Danbury Health Systems Inc., Jupitermedia Corporation, and Knovel Corporation.
