Starring role for the web on media players
Opera brings great web experience on Dune HD hybrid media players
Oslo, Norway - July 18, 2012
Opera Software and Dune HD, the world leader in hybrid media player products, today announced that the companies will work together to deliver the Opera Devices Software Development Tool Kit (SDK) on Dune HD set-top boxes and advanced hybrid media players. Dune HD devices powered by Opera's web experience will soon be shipping in 60 countries around the world.
Dune HD players combine a home media player with a set-top box, giving users seamless content delivery while optimizing service monetization for operators. The Dune HD media players provide users with a VoD experience, broadcast reception and Digital Media Adapter functionality. With the Opera Devices SDK on board, all Dune HD models will also bring the latest browsing technology, HTML5 support for applications and advanced integration with the operator's graphical user interface.
The powerful Opera Devices SDK allows manufacturers to deploy user interfaces, applications, browsers or internet multimedia services on their devices. The Opera Devices SDK has been installed by many of Opera Software's partners and customers from different markets, including gaming, home appliances, automobile, set-top boxes and TVs.
"The web now has a leading role in products for home entertainment," says Konstantin Dyshlevoy, CEO, Dune HD. "By combining our best-in-class media playback experience with the most engaging Opera-powered web performance, we can now offer many new entertainment options on your Dune HD media player."
"With the Opera Devices SDK, Opera provides fast and user-friendly browsing, HTML5 apps, social networking and much more on millions of different devices around the world," says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.
