Two Million and Counting: Opera 8 Web browser welcomed by Internet users world-wide

Oslo, Norway - May 03, 2005

Just two weeks after the release of Opera 8, Opera Software announces that its newest browser has reached two million downloads. This total includes downloads on all available platforms and languages. The English version garnered the most downloads, totaling more than 1.3 million. The German version was the next most downloaded version with numbers totaling nearly 400,000.

"Considering Opera's last version, Opera 7, accumulated more than 60 million downloads, the successful launch of Opera 8 in April 2005 reflects that even higher download figures await for Opera," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO for Opera software.

Opera 8 offered users increased speed, security and simplicity while surfing the Internet.
