Opera leverages its solid growth and expands in the Americas

Leading Web browser company grows sales force in Canada and Mexico

Oslo, Norway and Mountain View, USA - January 30, 2008

Opera Software, the only company that puts the Web on any device, today announced it has expanded its operations into Canada and Mexico, strengthening Opera's strategy to make its winning Web experience available to more end-users on any device.

Opera recently announced the opening of its second US office, located in Mountain View, California, which now serves to run sales and marketing initiatives in the Americas. Opera's US partners and customers include Google, Yahoo!, Adobe, Motorola, Palm, Nintendo of America, and Qualcomm.

Rod Hamlin, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing Americas, leads this expansion. Hamlin previously served as Nuance Communications SVP of Global Sales and brings more than 20 years of experience in building technology businesses with a strong emphasis on Internet and mobile technologies.

Opera in Canada

Canada's wireless carriers are reported by the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Alliance (CWTA) to currently offer coverage to more than 98 percent of its population. TELUS Mobility, Bell and Rogers are the three largest Canadian carriers, with the former two being CDMA carriers and Rogers as the single GSM carrier in the country. Opera's mobile products are successfully tracked on both CDMA and GSM networks globally and the company is poised to bring the same power to mobile users in Canada.

Opera in Mexico

By adding sales force in Mexico, Opera is launching into a 3G-ready Latin America with full Web content to drive new and exciting services. Opera's partnership with Telefónica Móviles in Spain lays the groundwork for many other partnerships throughout Latin America. The 2007 Latin American Mobile Communications and Mobile Data Market Report lists Brazil as the fifth largest mobile market, in terms of subscribers, behind China, the USA, Japan, and Russia.
