Custom browsing for Brazil’s Globo.com customers with Opera
June 29, 2011 - Oslo, Norway
Opera Software today announced that it is teaming with leading Brazilian site, Globo.com through its technology portal TechTudo, to offer a customized desktop browser for Globo users and to offer Globo.com and TechTudo content to users of the Opera desktop browser and the Opera Mini mobile browser in Brazil.
The browser has been tailor-made for the TechTudo website and is now available for download at the Globo.com's technology website.
Globo.com content is now being offered with the latest versions of Opera for desktop and the Opera Mini mobile browser. Via the Speed Dial feature and bookmarks, users will have access to sites such as Globo.com and TechTudo. The Speed Dial, which makes it easier and faster to access favorite sites, has been one of Opera's most-loved features since its introduction four years ago.
"Our end users look to us to keep them informed regarding news and entertainment. By providing a customized Opera browser, we are able to give people access to instant, relevant information at their fingertips," said Bruno Parodi, New Business Manager at TechTudo.
Opera's desktop browser introduced - and continues to innovate - new ideas that make it faster and easier to use the Web. More than 55 million people use Opera each month because it gives a superior web experience.
The Opera Mini browser, the world's most used mobile browser, has more than 100 million monthly users and two billion daily page views. The Opera Mini mobile browser works on more than 3,000 different mobile phone models, from basic feature phones to high-end smartphones.
The unique Opera Mini technology compresses web content by up to 90 percent before sending it to the phone, resulting in faster page loading and lower browsing costs. It shares many features with Opera's browsers for desktops, including tabbed browsing, password manager, bookmarks and Speed Dial.
"By providing customized content, we are following through with our commitment to offer the best Internet experience on any device in any country," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.
